The authors present a process for developing a performance management system, and for linking it with other systems for human resource management that deal with issues such as rewards, career development, and succession planning. The paper also offers some ideas that may help organizations to monitor the impact of their performance management systems. This paper draws information from a variety of sources. These include literature including comparative study of performance appraisals in several international organizations, global trends, feedback from training programs, and personal experience.
